A new leadership management programme has been jointly developed by the Institute of Public Administration and the Housing Agency for current and future housing managers and professionals in Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies. The programme is based on 3 x 1 day seminar/workshops and 1 x 2 day workshop/research presentation that will take place in the IPA, 57-61 Lansdowne Road, Dublin D04 TC62.

Key Facts Current housing policy and practice present Local Authorities [LAs] and Approved Housing Bodies [AHBs] with challenges of an unprecedented nature and place increased pressure on staff in both entities to deliver on the objectives of governmental programmes. These interactive workshops for housing professionals in, or seeking, a leadership/management role, will encourage critical engagement from participants on current policy and new thinking in this area. The programme will inform key housing professionals of the challenges associated with policy implementation whilst seeking to address these challenges in a strategic manner.
Who Is It For? The workshops are aimed at current and future housing professionals in Local Authorities and Approved Housing Bodies.
Delivery Method The programme consists of 5 themed workshops that will include lectures from experienced housing professionals, facilitated group discussions and a small research project to be carried out at Workshop 5. The workshops seek to consolidate and expand the knowledge of housing professionals and increase the cadre of skilled professionals working in this sector. It will also provide participants with an opportunity to share their experiences and ideas with fellow practitioners with the ultimate aim of increasing the professionalisation of housing.

Evaluation Method(s) As part of the New Thinking for Housing workshops, participants will be invited to undertake a small research exercise into an aspect of their work and to present their findings to the class. Upon successful completion of attendance (a minimum of 4 days is required) and the research exercise, each participant will receive a certificate from the IPA.

Note On Costs The full cost for this four-day programme is €850 per person. A financial contribution of €350 per person will be kindly made by the Housing Agency, bringing the cost of the four modules down to €600 per person.
